Northwest Austin Civic Association’s 4th of July Parade

We want to thank everyone who helped to make our 35th Annual 4th of July Parade such an amazing success! We had an incredible turnout even with the pending rain storms, but were fortunate to not have a drop fall until the march to Doss was complete. The dedicated parade fans continued on even with the deluge of rain to enjoy Sparkles the Clown who was making balloons, John Maverick the “Second Best Magician” in Austin, face painting and the refreshments. We had participants from all around Central Texas, not just Northwest Hills, not just Austin, but cities far and wide. Regardless of your age or how far you traveled from, many enjoyed celebrating Independence day with their families and approximately 1,000 other participants (most of which surfaced within the last 15 minutes prior to the parade start due to the pending rain). It was a beautiful site at 10:45 AM to see one last remaining family huddling under Sparkles the Clown’s umbrella waiting for that one last balloon to be made into an animal. Even with the rain, that little boy will never forget that rainy July 4th day of 2007.

We want to particularly thank the Cavitts, who have let the parade start at their home for the last 35 years! We also want to thank the parade committee Ann Denkler, Ben Luckens, Bill Bradley, Cecelia Burke, Charlie Galvin, David Sheppard, Jackie Good, Karen Brenner, Karla Villalon, Louise Geil, Mimi Suttles, Nick Classen, Sue Sheppard. They in turn would like to thank the following:
